When listening to Vivaldi I think at some point everyone wonders what was it like seeing Vivaldi in his element with an incredible and unique women's orchestra and choir. You have brought that to life - great to see !

Totally amazing!!!! I am 86 and have sung Vivaldi all my life. I love his music. You have shown the real Vivaldi that I would have loved to know. His writing one piece 500 times is absolute BS. Your context for his life and music show how magnificent he was. Gracias!!!

Glad to see this new BBC production, their second depiction/exploration of this orchestra. Inscribed into so many of the concertos that use pairs of featured instruments you can see the pedagogical approach to teaching music at the Pietà; a veteran maestra playing a passage that is then echoed by a second player who was certainly the maestra's pupil. The practice of women teaching women is expressed in these compositions. There is much more in the music itself to be considered based on the new information presented here.

Everybody involved here knows this, but it is only hinted at perhaps too modestly at several points in the commentary: these were THE BEST ensemble and solo singers and players in the western world at the time. They attracted music lovers from all over Europe, and many of Vivaldi's compositions were first performed entirely by women, I think the haunting concerto for two mandolins is one of these.

Thank you to you all for a most wonderful, beautiful and enriching documentary on the Pietà, the life of the orphans and Vivaldi❤❤❤❤ The book The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable makes a great companion to this film.🎵🎶

It's amazing how the Venetian Republic was far better organized, socially and culturally advanced, than Italy today. Micky White and all the people involved in this documentary did a terrific job, enlightening and highly entertaining at the same time.

Here is a thing and you might think this is strange but I think its a gift from God. I have started struggling against lewd online material and quite succesfully. And all of a sudden I discovered Vivaldis FS spring, now I am not the type to listen to classical music. Spring has been a gift from God imo❤ there is a goodness there that makes me cry, a grown man who has been to prison btw. I will say though there is cleavage shown in the documentary and that is not good. Vivaldi would not approve.
